EXTERNAL EXAM
Move busts out with their 4th album, complete with 13 tracks that mix techno, pop, and rap beautifully. From the catchy and bouncy "VENUS IN PARADISE" to the mind-numbing "Blue Jewel", this cd is sure to have you moving with the beat.
FINAL EXAM:
Move is a
fairly old band compiled of Yuri, Motsu and Kimura Takashi.
Move is best known for their works on the Initial D openings
and endings. Move came
around sometime back in 1999 with their album debut "Electrock."
After their debut, they came out with several singles and in
just 3 years came out with 4 albums. Yuri's silky smooth voice mixed
with Motsu's brilliant rap talent and Kimura's fast paced beats
makes Move an amazing band.
"Synergy" marks Move's 4th album and keeps up with Move's reputation for amazing beats and silky smooth vocals. Packed with amazing techno beats, catchy lyrics, beautiful vocals and amazing rapping, “Synergy” will not disappoint fans and is sure to draw in new fans as well with its memorable songs.
The beat for "Romancing Train" changes entirely from the bouncy techno rhythm in “VENUS IN PARADISE”. With heartwarming and soulful lyrics like "Your warmth flows into me as I bury my cheek in your shoulder, your warmth flows into me as I bury my cheek in your shoulder, our love is gently guarded by the Trance Euro Express" and a more down tempo yet still catchy pulse, this song is by far my favorite of the cd. Yuri's voice fits perfectly with the mood of the track, and Motsu adds an interesting mix. This song had me singing for hours on end.
The mood of the cd turns dramatically again with "Come Together", where Move goes from a down tempo, love-like rhythm back to the bouncy pulse it's known for. The beat is highly annoying however, loudly repeating several times while all the ambient noises mix horribly and Yuri and Motsu's vocals fail at keeping the overall feel of everything. This is most likely the worst song on the album in my opinion.

After hearing my first Move song "Romancing Train" when it turned into the ending credits for the anime Final Fantasy: Unlimited I became hooked instantly. I loved the up-beat sounds and wonderful vocals. I became so in love with them, I even checked out some of the other anime they did songs for, and it turned out they even did the opening for one of my favorite anime, "Ikki Tousen."
This CD did indeed live up to my expectation of Move. While it could have been better, and a lot of the beats were predictable, it was still an amazing CD. "U.S.A," "FLY ME SO HIGH," "SUPER SONIC DANCE" and "Come Together" help me get up and get active, and leave a good feeling at the end of the track. "Romancing Train" and "Creamy Soup" leaves you thinking and calms you down, while still making you feel good inside with its well correlated beats. This cd is great to recommend for friends who like Techno but want to get into "J-pop" and is great for dance parties even if you can't understand the lyrics. Overall, the cd keeps the same loveable flavor Move has always had while stretching it a bit and trying out new things.
